The Glass Menagerie (1944) is a "memory play" by Tennessee Williams focusing on Tom Wingfield's recollection of his family in St. Louis. 

Trapped in a low-paying job, Tom supports his overbearing, nostalgic mother, Amanda, and his fragile, shy sister, Laura, who lives in a world of glass animals.
